First things first. ***TRIGGER WARNING*** As someone who has schizophrenia running in the family, I would like to say that it’s most definitely not fun, and that you shouldn’t become addicted to any Schizos having fun.

Now.

They’re Americans. Oh, and this LP has probably already sold out, so you might want to stop here. If not, remember all them pastelly, pale faced, indie bands from the 80s. Wouldn’t look you in the eye. Vaguely psychedelic. That’s what Schizo Fun Addict do. Which isn’t surprising considering they’ve been around for 27-ish years. It was still within living memory.

And they’ve got on with doing that ever since. They may have met in Zummerzet, but they’re a New Jersey band, which means nothing to me, but I’m going to pretend there’s a vibrant indie psych pop scene over there, to explain why they’ve been at it so long.

Fact fans will enjoy the fact, that it’s a concept album. No idea about that, but according to Jet Wintzer, a member of Schizo Fun Addict, it’s “a concept album about the 27 year career of Schizo Fun Addict.” Hmm. Someone has a lazy lob on for themselves. It’s all rather lovely, although if you are looking for catchy choruses, I suggest you look elsewhere. There is, however, some beautiful, subdued guitar work that draws you in, over the course of the recording.

There are also some analogue synths, some 60s girl group like vocal turns, and a distinct lack of either rock or roll. But that’s not their thing, man. Get with the programme. Listen to ‘Coming to You’ and vibe out, listen to ‘Tease Murderess’ and tell me it’s not groovy.

It was out as a limited edition vinyl LP on Fruits de Mer, but they’re probably all gone. I don’t know. I don’t have the internet. But you can still get it as one of those invisible, lost in space, technology is bad, digital / streamy things, direct from the band.
