EUROVISION SONG CONTEST
Malmo 2013 DVD
CMC

Ah, Eurovision! In all its glory, spread across 3 DVDs, encompassing 8 hours of material including the semi-finals, the grand final, as well as some bonus material and a commentary.
Shame then that this years Eurovision was one of the dullest in recent memory. After all, there are only so many Eastern European power ballads a man can take. And one brunette in a white dress singing a Roxette cast-off sounds pretty much like any other.
However, musical quality aside, you can’t actually fault the DVDs. It does what it says on the tin and delivers all the acts from the three shows, which at least gives you a chance to catch up on the good stuff that didn’t make it through to the dullathon of the final. And that’s a good thing. So say hello to Natália Kelly for Austria, Despina Olympiou for Cyprus and Adrian Lulgjuraj and Bledar Sejko for Albania, all songs which were hands down better than most of the finalists.
I know they were in a hurry to get this out, but at the price a wee booklet of some sort would have been nice. After all, it cost them nothing apart from a plastic case and some blank DVDs.
