Longwaves and Quatrefoils by Ellan – landscape-inspired ambient album

Longwaves and Quatrefoils from Herefordshire-based Ellan, is a landscape-inspired ambient album.

A debut release, Longwaves and Quatrefoils is rurally-informed experimental music from Herefordshire which evokes the warm resonance of 4-track pioneers Stars of the Lid and Flying Saucer Attack and transposes such lo-fi reveries to the churchyards and lonely fields of the Welsh Marches. The perfect soundtrack to frosty morning strolls.  

Created between June and November 2025 Longwaves and Quatrefoils was inspired by the rural churches of Herefordshire and the Welsh Border, analogue drone and the desire to connect sound with time and place.
