Minotaurus Returns : Memories in the Haze – Bavarian folk metal

Step into the mist where myth meets memory. With Memories in the Haze, Minotaurus—Bavaria’s ancient folk metal torchbearers—unleash a sonic tapestry of heroism, heartbreak, and hope. Their seventh studio album blurs the line between legend and lived experience, channelling raw emotion through dual vocals, soaring riffs, and timeless storytelling. This is more than music—it’s a ritual of reflection and rebirth.

With “Memories in the Haze”,Minotaurus open a new chapter in their more than thirty-year-long history. The Ancient Folk Metal and Power Metal band from Aschaffenburg—featuring Oliver Klump (vocals), Clarissa Hobeck (vocals), Rainer Zumkeller (guitar), Jürgen Hermann (guitar), Marcus Finger (bass), and Rouven Zumkeller (drums)—remain deeply rooted in medieval mythology, fantasy, and legends. This concept runs like a red thread through their entire discography.

The band’s journey began in 1994, when vocalist Oliver Klump and bassist Uwe Elbert decided to join musical forces. With guitarist Thomas Meyer and drummer Jochen Gebert, the first lineup was formed—laying the foundation for a path filled with adventure and adversity. Armed with a demo, Minotaurus played their first shows in local clubs and small festivals. In 1997, they released their debut EP “The First Labyrinth”, followed by “The Dragonbone Throne” in 1998.

From the very beginning, Minotaurus shows were immersive spectacles. The band incorporated theatrical elements and costumes, capturing the imagination of fans and the metal press alike. Energized by positive feedback, they produced their debut album “Path of Burning Torches” in 1999 completely independently, without a label, true to the DIY spirit.

In April 2025, Minotaurus signed with German label NRT-Records, with A&R Frank Kelch overseeing the signing. The first result of this new collaboration was the release of the music video for “D.R.I.P.” on April 11, followed by the visual premiere of “Der Jüngling am Bache” on April 14. Finally, a new version of “Tears of a Hero” was presented alongside the EP “Echoes in the Haze” on April 18.

Right on time for May 23rd, Minotaurus presented their new and seventh studio album “Memories in the Haze” in an exclusive early premiere during their anniversary show at Club Beavers in Erlbach am Main. Between that preview and the release, the music video for “Coming Home,” directed by Kevin Ehrl (E(h)rlebnisfilm), premiered on November 7, 2025. On November 28, 2025, the album  “Memories in the Haze” will be officially released via NRT-Records. With this release, Minotaurus once again emphasize their distinct identity and present a collection of songs that invites listeners to immerse themselves in other worlds.

They’re on the Bandcamp thing.
