This is a fabulous 2012 album from Eliza Skelton & Paul Simmons back when they were calling themselves THE DESPERATE ONES. ‘1906’, as the album is titled, was never officially released on any label, only ever appearing as a download. Due to the resounding success of Eliza’s fabulous ‘The Lookerer’ album on BMR, we all thought that a full vinyl and CD release of ‘1906’ would be an excellent idea.
That way we make a wonderful piece of work available, pretty much for the first time, and we also satisfy the cravings of Eliza’s hordes of admirers. Paul has his own gang of acolytes who have been loving his guitar work with The Bevis Frond and others.
The record is in a similar vein to ‘The Lookerer’, but perhaps a little more rocking, with some brilliant playing and songwriting, plus, of course, the splendid vocals of Eliza Skelton. It comes in a new sleeve designed by Mr Simmons, and the vinyl includes a lyric sheet. We think it’s an essential purchase and we hope you all agree.
