SENDELICA – Requiem For Mankind – review
Fruits de Mer
The fourth part of a trilogy? As if I don’t have enough on my plate.
The final instalment of a series of studio albums by space rock / psych rock / ambient electronics band Sendelica examining Man’s relationship with religion, magic, myths, himself and our planet. It all began with ‘And Man Created God’ which looked at man’s relationship with religion, followed by ‘One Man’s Man’ which examined the history of Homo Sapiens, where did we come from and more importantly where are we headed? And then didn’t end with ‘Man, Myth & Magic’ which explored man’s myths and was intended to be the final part of a trilogy
However, band leader Pete Bingham felt there was more to say regarding the future of mankind – and this led to ‘Requiem For Mankind’ – the final part in this series. So he says.
As with most Sendelica releases, you’ll be hard pushed to find fault with this release. Especially if you’re a fan of classic Pink Floyd. The double album has four tracks, one per side.
Cosmic Slop (In The Beginning) – Let There Be Light
Let There Be Light – Requiem For The Planet
The Downfall
Chaos – Requiem for Mankind
I’ll tell you know right now that ‘Let There Be Light + Requiem For The Planet’ is my absolute favourite. It’s a stunning track and the sort of thing that Pink Floyd should have gotten on with if Roger Waters had stopped wetting the bed. It’s truly outstanding. The whole record is a delight to listen to with space rock, ambient, electronic and krautrock all coming together in a remarkable meld. All the more remarkable given Mr Binghams health problems.

As things stand, he will no longer be playing live gigs for the foreseeable future, and neither will he be able to work, which means that it’s going to be a financially difficult time for him. So even if you can’t buy a record, a wee donation at https://www.gofundme.com/f/sendelicas-pete-bingham-needs-our-help would help.
