This year is our 30th anniversary (if you can believe that!), so what better time than this, to reconnect and celebrate with some great new music.
Hopefully, this will be the first of many news updates from me. I’ll try not to over-share or overload you with too much in this first message; I’ll let you know what’s been happening in manageable bites, shining a light once again on our extended family which includes Peter Lacey, the black watch, Anton Barbeau, Schnauser, Marco Rossi, Electrasy and Hamfatter; all of whom have been creating and releasing amazing new music since we last spoke.
First off, I want to let you all know that Steve Wilson has a brand new album out next Friday, 30th August. It’s called Songs From the Summerhouse and started out as a lockdown project and evolved into what I think is his most personal, well-crafted and certainly most eclectic collection of songs to date. The album also sees Steve joined by many of his long-time friends and musical collaborators, including Steve Garden, Robbie McIntosh, Russ Parker, Jess Upton, Timmy Wheeler and Chris Rickard and members of his new band The Innocent Bystanders (Dave Hackett, Lucy Hackett and yours truly!). You can pre-order the album now (and get one track straight away!), then get the entire album on release day. There are also a limited number of CD versions available.

My own band, Garfields Birthday, have finally finished (and this time I mean it!) our new album; it’s called Next Stop Mars and it will be out very soon. I’ll tell you more about it next time, but you can preview one of the tracks here:

Fans of Peter Lacey, will already be aware, I’m sure, that he has continued to write, record and release consistently wonderful music during the recent years; if you need to catch up, you may want to start with his recent 2024 album From My Picture Window, which can be enjoyed here:

I already feel I’ve done exactly what I said I wasn’t going to do, so, sorry about that. I hope every one of you is doing well; being happy, being kind and making the most of each passing day… they go so quickly, so we have to make every second count (I might be thinking of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off there, but you get the point). Please do reach out if you want to say hello and let me know how you are doing!
Until next time, please enjoy the new music and take care, Simon x.
