King King are pleased to announce the release of their fifth studio album “Maverick” on Friday 6th November 2020 via Channel 9 Music – King King’s new independent label. The 10-track album, released on CD, vinyl and various bundles, is available for pre-order from www.kingking.co.uk.
The second single from the album called ‘Never Give In’ is out now.
Says Alan Nimmo:” ’Never Give In’ was a song that came out of a number of similar ideas that I couldn’t quite settle on so eventually when it blossomed and presented itself to me I knew what we had to do with it! I wanted to have a big sound with plenty of space, a classic rock song that still said, “King King”! It’s a song about grit and determination, a willingness to keep on trying and “never give in”; obstacles will always get In the way but how we deal with them is our strength! This song was a lot of fun to record… I loved watching the lads in the band doing their thing and creating such a cool groove for me to be able to sing to! Most importantly, we had great fun doing this and indeed the whole album! It’s wonderful when everyone pulls in the same direction and to see such care for what was best for the overall sound and the album from everyone was very humbling for me!”

The first single ‘I Will Not Fall’, which has been A-listed on Planet Rock, will be available as an instant grat track, with all pre-orders plus more exclusive content, including track by track commentary from Alan Nimmo.
“Maverick” follows 2017’s critically acclaimed album “Exile & Grace” and includes the new line-up featuring Alan Nimmo (vocals/guitar), Stevie Nimmo (guitar), Jonny Dyke (organ/piano), Zander Greenshields (bass) and Andrew Scott (drums). The album was engineered and mixed by Liam McCluskey at Morsecode Studios in Glasgow.
Produced by Alan Nimmo, Jonny Dyke and Liam McCluskey at Morsecode Studios in Glasgow, the new album is co-written by Alan Nimmo (guitar, lead vocals), Zander Greenshields (bass), Jonny Dyke (keyboards), Andrew Scott (drums), with all lyrics co-written by Alan Nimmo and newest member Stevie Nimmo (guitar).
“Recording the new album with the new line-up has been a whole lot of fun and very interesting,” says Alan Nimmo. “It’s great watching the guys using the great talent they have bringing the songs to life.”

Most of the songs, bar one, were co-written by all the band members, while all arrangements were co-written by Alan and keyboardist Jonny Dyke. Says Alan, “I value contributions from all of the guys in the making of new music. Johnny and I found a great rhythm working together. We just got our heads down and made sure that the songs were arranged in the best way possible.”
King King have evolved as a band, and their fifth album, Maverick, is no exception. But what makes this new album different from all the previous King King albums?

“Maverick is an album that I chose to write with complete freedom,” explains Alan. “Musically, it’s more mature and more complex than our previous records, but it also has the simplicity of an album that just has great catchy songs that people will want to sing along with. The essence of King King is still there and always will be. We hope the energy, fun and passion is evident throughout!”
But why call the new album Maverick?
“I named the album Maverick at a time when it was risky to do so,” says Alan. “I made some bold moves and changes from band members to behind-the-scenes stuff. I guess that’s who I am. I’m a risk-taker!”
