81z3htz2b87l-_sl1500_The Jive Aces are the UK’s number one Swing and Jive band. Having toured the world several times over, visiting some 30 countries, sold out The Royal Albert Hall, and performed at Glastonbury festival and Buckingham Palace on more than one occasion, the Jive Aces are undoubtedly at the top of their game with a line-up that hasn’t changed in the last 20 years.

The Jive Aces are: Ian Clarkson – Vocals, Trumpet & Ukulele, Ken Smith – Double Bass, Peter Howell – Drums, Vince Hurley – Piano, John Fordham – Sax & Clarinet, Alex Douglas – Trombone & Harmonica.

Their latest album “DIGGIN’ THE ROOTSVol 1 Rocking Rhythm & Blues”, is their twelfth release and marks the 20th Anniversary of this line up. It is inspired by the early influences that generated that initial enthusiasm amongst the guys, and lit the flame that started the Jive Aces off on their musical journey.

Such influences include Big Joe Turner, Louis Jordan, Ruth Brown and the great Louis Prima who was the single biggest influence on the band.

The band wanted to capture the carefree spirit that first turned them on to this music when they started, combined with the sheer joy and energy that they generate at a live show today.

They wanted to record it in a quality of sound that was able to capture every nuance of the genre they love.

The Jive Aces first heard the recordings of these great artists on the radio and in London Rock ‘n’ Roll clubs and at that time, rushed out to purchase them on vinyl. This new album is available on both CD and 12 inch Vinyl.

The album was recorded at Madhatter Studio in Los Angeles and Cleartrack Studios in Clearwater Florida, using vintage and state of the art equipment and experienced engineers who were keen to capture the full flavour of what the band were laying down.

Making a special guest appearance on the album is phenomenal singer and actress Cassidy Janson, who is in her second year of playing the lead role of Carole King in the hit musical “Beautiful” at London’s Aldwych Theatre to rave reviews, particularly from Carole herself. Cassidy had the pleasure of singing to 60,000 people at Hyde Park recently alongside Carole King in a duet of “Natural Woman”.

The band have come a long way since their beginnings in Romford Essex, and they haven’t looked back since, with a busy tour schedule of 250 or more shows a year all around the world.

The band have worked alongside an impressive array of people, most notably Van Morrison and their video of the song “Bring Me Sunshine” has clocked up more than three million views and won seven film awards.

The band have just returned from a 6 week tour of the United States ending in Vegas where they showcased the album at the International Viva Las Vegas Vintage festival, the largest of its kind in the world.

There is a video/single release planned for one of the self-penned tracks on the album, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Movie Star”, and The Jive Aces will be touring the UK to promote this album.

This release is Volume 1 of a special ‘double album’ release, and Volume 2 will explore the early influence that Hot Jazz has played in shaping the sound of the band. Volume 2 release is planned for later this year.
