TRAVELIN JACK – New Album COMMENCING COUNTDOWN Released September 8th

Travelin Jack, who have developed into one of Germany’s most unusual new rock acts over the last four years, have signed to Steamhammer / SPV to release their spangling second album, ‘Commencing Countdown’, on September 8^th.

‘Commencing Countdown’ may bring to mind great rock bands from the seventies such as Thin Lizzy, Rush, Scorpions, Slade and Deep Purple, but the Berlin group’s compositions and warm, analogue production are both contemporary and modern. “There’s nothing retro about our material, we simply prefer the sound of era when this music was really wicked” states guitarist Flo ‘The Fly’ Kraemer.

‘Commencing Countdown’ was recorded by Richard Behrens and Mirko ‘godi’ Hildmann at the Schaltraum Studio, formerly a broadcasting centre in East Berlin, previously situated behind the Iron Curtain, prior to the fall of the Berlin Wall, creating the perfect conditions for the combo to translate their artistic vision into reality.

“All in all, our new material is a little slower, more grooving and even more haunting than our debut,” states Kraemer. Whereas the riff-heavy ‘Cold Blood’ may remind of the band’s first album, ‘New World’ (2015), songs such as ‘Galactic Blue’, with its outstanding space echo parts, herald a new penchant for experimentation. The balladic ‘What Have I Done’, slows the pace ever further with its bluesy vibe and languid lead guitar licks, while ‘Time’ soars from an even more quiet beginning to a rising, resounding energetic finale.

The lyrics of catchy first single ‘Keep On Running’ reflect the band’s willingness to face challenges and courage to venture into pastures new; “You can’t have fear in your life, you should approach things with courage and have confidence with your strengths” asserts Kraemer; check the video out at https://youtu.be/5h4xrD0zbdQ 

‘Journey To The Moon’, which is about being determined to make your dreams come true, has a similar message; “The formula is: don’t talk, act!” comments Kraemer.

Travelin Jack’s inimitable musical style, which is tailored to the vocals of Alia Spaceface, is reflected by the visual trademarks of their explosive live show; the distinctive make-up, platform shoes and glitter outfits. “We don’t care what other people think about us, whether we rub them the wrong way or polarize; we do what we believe in and what we enjoy most” concludes Kraemer.

‘Commencing Countdown’ will be available as a digipak CD, gatefold black 180 gram vinyl album, (with printed inner sleeves and CD in a cardboard slipcase), front and back silver laced cover, plus download and stream.
