AEROSMITH
Rocks Donington DVD
Eagle Rock
I remember the first time I saw Aerosmith live. It was their first UK reunion tour, after many a long year avoiding overseas travel due to [koff] chemical reasons, so there was no way I was going to miss out. An overnight bus to Birmingham, then a lengthy pub crawl before heading to the NEC. And they rocked!
Fast forward nigh on thirty years, and Aerosmith turned up to the Monsters Of Rock at Donington, off the back of some really patchy albums, a few slips of the wagon, and some near break ups. And you know what? They rocked!
I was surprised to see that they still had it in them after all this time, but bar a couple of dodgy power ballads, they put on a mighty fine show, rattling throw pre and post reunion classics. For sure, the mid section of the show dropped in intensity, but they’re no spring chickens any more. And any band that can finish with a 1-2-3 of ‘Dream On’, ‘Sweet Emotion’ and ‘Mama Kin’ has got an awful lot going for it.
As always, its out in a multitude of formats, with DVD (which I’ve been watching), Blu-Ray, DVD + 2CD and DVD + 3LP. A good one.
