The Sweet gear up for farewell UK tour

Glitz, BLitz & 70s Hitz starring Sweet, Mud 2 & The Rubettes featuring Alan WilliamsThree of the greatest, most exuberant, live bands of the seventies team up for Glitz, Blitz & 70s Hitz!

It’s all been Sweet but now it looks like it has been time for retirement.

The band, now in it’s 47th year, has announced a 45-date tour of Europe and the U.K. which they have said will “probably” be their last.

Guitarist Andy Scott said in a statement “For Sweet to be going back out on tour in the UK on such a big scale for what will probably be the last time is a real thrill. Performing is at the very heart of what we do and though fashions change, our songs have lasted through five decades. When we’re up on the stage in front of an audience it’s almost as if time has stood still.”

SWEET are a rock music phenomena, the quintessential glam rockers who have spent over three years in the UK charts, sold over 55 million records and have had 34 number 1 hits including their hit “Blockbuster”, still playing to sell out audiences around the world.

The members of MUD 2 combine their talents to keep the sound and hits so well nurtured and performed by Les Gray alive. Mud found fame in the 1970s when their hit Tiger Feet became the biggest selling single of 1974, the same year that Lonely This Christmas became the Christmas #1 and their music is as well loved today as it was then.

THE RUBETTES (featuring Alan Williams) are best known for their hit Sugar Baby Love that spent five weeks at no.1 in the UK and sold 8 million copies worldwide. They had a further 15 international hits which established them as one of the true icons of 70’s Glam.

The package tours in November and December.
