Veteran all-female rock band Girlschool are currently on tour in North American tour with Swedish hard rockers Crucified Barbara.
Girlschool originally formed in 1975 as Painted Lady by Kim McAuliffe and Dinah “Enid” Williams who were neighbors in South London. The current band formed in 1978 with the addition of (the late) Kelly Johnson and Denise Dufort and released their first single, Take It All Way, in December of that year. Their first full album, Demolition, was released in 1980 and, to date, they’ve released twelve studio albums with a thirteenth, Guilty as Sin, due out this summer.
McAuliffe, Williams and Dufort remain a part of the band along with Jackie Chambers who joined in 2000.
A special edition EP, Propaganda!, will be on sale at shows which will include two songs from the new album, Take It Like a Band and The Revolution, along with two from their album Hit and Run (Kick and Run and Watch Your Step) and a cover of the Bee Gees Stayin’ Alive.
