McMahon Teams Up With Mick Hucknall for EP release

McMahon has to have been one of Ireland’s proudest musical exports last year.  With his debut single, ‘Deep Down’ topping the Irish iTunes charts on first week of release, a successful debut album entitled ‘Half Blind’ and TV and radio support from the likes of Terry Wogan, Graham Norton, Paul O’Grady, Alex Lester and Ireland’s ‘The Saturday Night Show’; this fresh and inspiring singer/songwriter from the Emerald Isle has proven that, once again, Ireland has what it takes to cut it in the global music arena.  Now, 2015 looks to be an even greater success as McMahon releases his EP, ‘Hummingbirds and Yellow Things’ on June 15th, along with his stunning third single, ‘Nicola’ also on 15 June produced and mixed by non other than Mick Hucknall.  Plus, with a string of live dates and festivals scheduled across the UK throughout the year, the unique talent of McMahon is set to explode.

Self-penned by McMahon and produced by Andy Wight (Simply Red, Eurythmics, The Script) and Gavin Goldberg (Mick Hucknall, Eurythmics), ‘Hummingbirds and Yellow Things’ is a musically superb and elating follow-up to McMahon’s well received album of last year.  A beautiful 4 track EP, ‘Hummingbirds and Yellow Things’ lyrically oozes wisdom and worldly-experience through its captivating messages.  Chosen as a single release, addictively-catchy and uplifting, ‘Nicola’ is the classic story of man who can’t have the girl he wants (or can he?); the title track ‘Hummingbirds and Yellow Things’ is a stunning melodic tale about standing tall in the face of adversity – ‘A track that has it’s own message for everyone’ McMahon comments.  McMahon doesn’t shy away from controversy either as the deep and melancholy ‘Hands Tied’ addresses how men cope with over-controlling women.
