Hi folks,

Hope this finds you well and in good fettle. Here is a wee update on what has been going on since the last newsletter.

Between one thing and another, it’s been an incredibly busy few months. I got to collaborate with my friend and virtuoso violinist Nicola Benedetti on her new release ‘Homecoming’ and also duet with Aled Jones on his new record ‘At the Heart of it All’. I was delighted to be featured as the opening track on Mark Radcliffe’s new Folk Sessions album which is available now to download on iTunes. It’s a great album which is made up of engaging live performances by musicians and singers from all over the UK.

We enjoyed a great summer of festival touring, lovely island gigs as part of Hebtember, well attended Scottish shows, a fun Fall US tour in October, and a short visit to Zaragoza in Spain just a few weeks ago. THANK YOU sincerely to all who came out to support us. It really has been a busy and exciting year, and we are already looking forward to more performances and projects in 2015.

Big news from this week – it was announced that I have been invited to perform this weekend at the glitzy Scottish Tartan Clef Awards, which was a lovely surprise given that Gaelic artists aren’t usually honoured alongside indie, pop and rock stars at these Scottish Music Awards. It’s a unique event where the top performers from Scotland are recognised for their talent and hard work, and previous award winners have included Annie Lennox, Edwyn Collins, Emeli Sandé, Paolo Nutini, Simple Minds and Wet Wet Wet.

What makes it particularly important to me, is that it also happens to be the biggest fundraiser of the year for the charity that runs the awards, Nordoff-Robbins. The charity, that requires £600,000 a year to function, is a revolutionary programme that uses the healing powers of music to improve the lives of over 400 children and adults isolated by life limiting illnesses, disability and trauma. Also, we have decided to discount ALL our CD albums on our online store until Christmas, so if you need a wee stocking filler or gift for someone, why not check it out.  We also produced our new album Gach Sgeul / Every Story on vinyl, as a special limited edition run, which also entitles you to a free digital download with purchase of the LP:

We are looking forward to Hogmanay and bringing in the New Year close to home in Inverness, and will be in touch again in 2015.

Thanks as ever for all your support.  Wishing you all a peaceful and happy festive season,

Love Julie x
