Musical Update from Jess Morgan

Jess Morgan – August News

and its mostly about GIGS !

Yes, its true after pushing forward with the worst title I’ve ever come up with for an e-mail newsletter my dreams of becoming a full-time professional e-mail newsletter writer are over.

Luckily I’ve got lots of hard-hitting news to press upon you and its pretty much all about the live gig thing. Its a relief is what it is. Its been a joy and a privilege to release and promote a new album and all the stuff that goes with that but playing live is king.

NORWICH standby. October 9th 2014 – doors at 7.30pm.
I’m putting on my own gig in a gorgeous converted church on Oak Street. Some of you will know this already as The Wharf. Lewis Murphy will play support. I’ll be playing a couple of sets – almost totally unplugged (so as to let the beautiful acoustics of the church do their thing,) and backed up by cellist Sarah Smout. Sarah’s cello playing breathed some serious life into the Langa Langa album tracks and I cannot wait to tour with her. If you haven’t made it to a headline show yet this is really a good one to catch. We’re running a bar too – in case anyone was worried!

I’m selling the tickets myself – from my bandcamp page – so its easy to pay by Paypal. I then send you out a PDF info sheet by e-mail. Simple as that!

Tell friends to simply find the ticket link from the ‘Tour Dates’ page on my website. There is also a Facebook event and if in doubt – a Google search should bring up the result you need.

Outside of Norwich – There are still loads of chances to see me play. I’ve just updated my gigs list and the dates are pasted below. I’m hitting LONDON with the fabulous cello-stylings of Sarah on October 7th (Servant Jazz Quarters). I know a lot of you were disappointed that the London date in the Spring was cancelled, so this is our long awaited headline gig in the big smoke – hope you’ll make it along… and bring a mate!

Outside of the UK – I’ll be back in Germany in November and with twinkling lights of plans of Norway and Ireland too before the year is out perhaps.

I’d like to take the opportunity to say a big thank you to everyone who has shown up at a gig or a festival so far this year, for supporting a buying copies of the album, for interacting with my things on social media and for recommending em new places to play. It is generally accepted by most that right now is an exceptionally difficult time to be making music and trying to make a life out of it – but like most things, that cloud has its silver lining and the silver lining is always you guys.

So – thats it! I hope everyone is well and enjoying the summer time to the full. I really hope we’ll see each other over the next few months.

Jess x
