Jess Morgan – folk goings on and whatnots

Summer is coming…

where are you going? what are you doing?

maybe we’ll cross paths? I’ve just updated my gigs list with all the festivals you can find me at this summer, namely Maverick, Festival At The Edge, Cambridge Folk Festival, Nozstock, Wilderness, Greenman, The Square and Compass Festival, Galtres Parklands, Greenbelt, Bunkfest, Swanage Folk festival and Bromyard Folk festival… hope to maybe see you there. See my TOURDATES page for more of that sort of thing http://www.jessmorgan.co.uk

Ooh – safe to say this year is really about playing live for me. ‘Langa Langa’ – if you hand’t heard is my new album and it came out to a merry reception on 14th April this year. The release tour was made up of 40 official tour dates – and there are just 2 more to go:

Sunday June 29th at Jabberwocky – Douglas, Isle of Man
(support from Jack Wolter.)
Monday June 30th at The Crescent Theatre – Birmingham (with the outrageously talented miss Kim Lowings. We’ll be singing a bit together as well.)

The tour has been up and down for sure – I’ve played some wonderful gigs, some quite exotic gigs, gigs where people hated me and left, gigs where I stayed up until 4am playing table tennis… Most importantly the tour wouldn’t have gone anywhere beyond my house here in Norwich if it hadn’t been for all you wonderful people who take an interest. I feel extremely lucky. Thank you. If you fancy a quick round up – here’s a little video I scraped together – to say thanks: http://youtu.be/1RP65lC3mSk

If you just want to wrap your ears around the new record then please by all means do. Its right here and yours for the taking:

CDs are available as usual for mail order – if they come from my site (Bandcamp) then they do of course come wrapped up with a sticker and and card.

I even do mail-orders from the road!

SO WHAT HAPPENED?

VIDEOS

‘fight fire with fire’ thats what I say, or maybe ‘if you can’t beat them…join them’ ? There are few things I hate more than being video-ed or snapped while I’m playing. Call me unprofessional, but it does put me off a bit. However – everyone’s saying the same thing… its all about videos. So I’m trying to be positive and make some decent ones myself – hoping that eventually the good will outweigh the bad! I could really use some comments and ‘shares’ of these if anyone’s feeling generous with their free time!

AND FINALLY…

I’ve decided to make space do do a little bit more teaching as of September. Anyone in the Norwich/Norfolk area interested in learning the guitar at beginner level – can drop me an e-mail jess@jessmorgan.co.uk
I’m not classically trained or technical player but instead can encourage and support new players from the perspective of a performer and songwriter.

So thats all folks – thanks again for reading this far! Have a wonderful week and I hope to see you at a gig or a festival in the near future.
