RHYDIAN ROBERTS, Double platinum selling, Classical Brit nominee and best-selling male newcomer in 2008  releases his fifth studio album ONE DAY LIKE THIS on Futura Classics on April 7th, 2014

Rhydians new record features him in powerful and emotional high baritone voice, working with the Orchestra of St. John and producer Ben Robbins, delivering a record that in sounds and repertoire ranges from pure classical to full Technicolour cinematic renditions of contemporary crossover songs – songs such as Nights In White Satin, The Blowers Daughter and Danny Boy.

Also appearing on the album are Bonnie TylerKerry Ellis and The Edmondson Sisters.

Says Rhydian:

This album has an epic feel.  I wanted it to have that wide screen quality you get with the best movie soundtracks.  I want it to be mesmerising and inspiring, full of passion and exciting all your emotions. Love, romance, hope, despair, faith, and the joy of being alive are all in there.  There are some  deeply personal choices like The Pearl Fishers duet by Bizet.  Im duetting with myself as a baritone and tenor, which sounds unusual, but I think really works well.  The aria is close to my heart as it inspired me at the age of 14 to become a singer.

The album release will be supported by a UK tour, dates TBC.

RHYDIAN: the double platinum awarded Welsh baritone. In the past six years Rhydian has had a highly successful career as a double platinum-selling recording artist – having secured a record deal with Sony BMG for two albums. His first album Rhydian went to No 3 in the charts, followed by the more classical O Fortuna featuring duets with Bryn Terfel and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa that reached No 2 in the classical charts and earned a Classical Brits nomination. Two years ago he took a diversion into pop covering 80s synth tunes with the album Waves.

He has had two sell-out solo tours, performed in the theatre, in the past two years alone he has appeared in touring productions of The Rocky Horror Show, Grease, We Will Rock You and hosted his own Welsh language TV series. An album Caneuon Cymraeg (Welsh Songs) followed his S4C TV shows.

He is now ready for the next stage in his career, reasserting his pre-eminence as a star of the classical crossover firmament, performing songs that play to his strengths.

“My passion is classical crossover singing.  It might not be fashionable to say it, but I want tomake it to the top of that world.  I don’t make any apologies for that. I love popera, it’s fun and it’s a great art form. Despite my classical training it was never my ambition to become an opera star.  I need a big stage and freedom to perform the way I want.  The opera world would be restrictive.  Don’t get me wrong, I want to train technically like the best opera singers train because I regard the technique as the optimum singing art-form but as a genre I find it restrictive.  I want to base my career on being flexible, and I think I’ve done that.”
