Dear friends and hedgehog fanciers,

It’s been a little while since the last update; a lot has been happening behind the scenes and I can honestly say that 2014 promises to be an exciting and productive year for Pink Hedgehog. Our last release, the compilation album Close to the Hedge, sold out of its limited 100 CD edition almost straight away and we picked up some lovely reviews and airplay from our loyal supporters. The album is now available as a download from Bandcamp – twenty gorgeous tracks for just £5!

But what about new music? Well, I’m incredibly chuffed to announce that the first new release of 2014 will be a brand new album by Peter Lacey out on the 24th February. It’s calledLast Leaf and it is remarkable. I have created a little page dedicated to the new release, where you can read all about it and listen to a few of the songs as well. Once again, the album will be available as a limited edition of 100 copies (which you can pre-order now) and as a digital download.

Elsewhere in the stable… Garfields Birthday have definitely finished recording their new album, You are Here, which just needs to be mixed and mastered before being flung in your general direction. The new album from Steve Wilson is about to be squeezed, teased and polished into the masterpiece that it’s revealing itself to be; and surely this has to be the year of The Poor Claires, that invisible non-band that never was, and perhaps should never be, but just maybe, will have its day in 2014.

Anton Barbeau has successfully funded two new albums via Pledgemusic. The first, Antronica, sees Anton successfully indulging in his first love, that of synths and drum machines; whilst the second release will be Bite the Hand, the new record by Three Minute Tease – which you can hear a sneak preview of here:

the black watch have released the gob-smackingly great album The End of When on Pop Culture Press – watch the video to ‘Meg’ by clicking right here:

And Schnauser appear to be on a psychedelic rocket-ride; instead of sitting around reading all the great reviews of their latest album Where Business Meets Fashion – available fromBandcamp:

… they’re already well into album #5 and looking forward to their first London gig and a vinyl release on the amazingly cool Fruits de Mer label:

I’m not jealous, I’m just green with anticipation!  Visit our site to read all the latest reviews and to browse our online Pop Store. This ‘classic’ site has served us well for a few years now, but I’m hard at work on a new web presence for the label, which should be live in a few weeks time. So until then, enjoy the old, embrace the new and savour the moment.  Exciting news to follow!

Take care, Simon.
