Martin Stephenson September 2013 News

The dark nights are drawing in, and my humour’s not so good…that’ll be summer gone then etc, however, there is a light shining here brothers and sisters…yes it is the much delayed formally-known-as-August- September newsletter. The great news being that Martin welcomes back “Red” Rob Hurst as webmaster at the excellent  http://daintees.com/. Still your first port of call for all things Martin Stephenson related. Rob has worked with Martin in a webmaster and publishing capacity for over 10 years and increases the East Midlands balance of the team by approximately 100%.
CALIFORNIA STAR
As strongly hinted at in July, the latest Daintees album California Star is now available via Universal/Absolute Marketing as a full scale CD release from all major retailers, as well as the usual download and streaming sites. Check the web page for specific ordering links etc…or, get this, pop down to your local HMV (if you still have one) and buy an actual physical copy yourself and take it home on the bus.
Check out this 9/10 review as a taster.
MR JIM HORNSBY…
If you have been to one of Martin’s gigs this year then there is a good chance you will have had the pleasure of hearing the understated, complimentary guitar playing of Jim Hornsby up there with the man himself. Well the chaps have taken their live collaboration into the studio and made two delightful albums Clear Run Over The Bridge and Bumper Brown. Both are available now for £11.50 each or £21.50 the pair (incl P&P). Ordering details below:-

GIGS
All Martin’s upcoming gigs are on the web sitehere…with special mentions for Hebden Bridge Trades Club on 14th November – a favourite venue of your newsletter author so I may well pop along to this one; a mini-Xmas Daintees tour taking in London Borderline, Leeds Brudenell Social Club and two nights at Newcastle Cluny, the latter being a much loved traditional festive paaaaarty!
Now here’s a thing…can you keep a secret? No, neither can I but whisper it…next May…full scale Daintees tour…major venues…you ain’t seen me…right?!
LINKS…and stuff.
If the above is not enough excitement then here’s a reminder of a few interwebby places that you MUST have a look at:-
Martin’s You Tube channel here. Facebook group? Oh yeah.
Twitter? Of course!
TWEET OF THE MONTH
It is a well known piece of Daintees mythology that the then unknown band were invited by Kitchenware boss Keith Armstrong to play in HMV Newcastle that he managed back in 1982. Well Martin was back in the shop last month, over 30 years later, still delighting the locals!
