Glyn Bailey and band – new album release

HAPPINESS is imminent!

So here’s what’s new…
The big news is that our album Happiness is officially released at the end of this month. Some of you will know it’s been available for a little while now, but distributors like iTunes and such require an ‘official’ date and August 31st seemed as good as any….see here

In addition to the regular band of Many Splendid Things, extra musicians were drafted in to add a bit of further spice to the recording sessions. These included percussionist to the stars Brian Costello, Ska trumpeter Dave Booth, Classically trained Violinist Liz Beahan & Jazz-funk Saxophonist John McLafferty. Many thanks to all concerned, including a special ‘shout out’ to Dave Archer of Cincinnati USA for doing the mastering.

For those who take an interest in such things the rather distinctive and arresting album cover is an extract from a painting by (a Follower of) Heironymous Bosch, which you can read about here.

Oh and that bribe… free downloads you can pick up, or rather down load here.

I’m also very pleased that Lizz has now joined the gang on a permanent basis and is already adding some delightful violin and vocal touches to our live sound.

I think from the point of view of both quality of the recording and songs this is our best release yet, but have a listen for yourself in full here… and more importantly let us know what YOU think.

We’ve also been busy with the face-paint, digi-camera and editing suite. There are no less than three songs from the album with complementary videos including Not GuiltyJohn the Revelator and our version of Jacques Brel’s Amsterdam. Here they are…

On top of all this, over the summer we managed to squeeze in some great live dates, including a very special performance at the Beatherder Festival in the North West. This is just a delightful event, a proper locally run festival with none of the corporate sponsorship but all of the quality, & fantastic moments you will remember for the rest of your life. If you haven’t been, we highly recommend checking it out next year.

To support the album a ‘guerrilla tour’ of open mic nights is planned for the Autumn, please check our website Events page for future dates.

Thanks for your attention and bye for now.
