Her Enemy by Leena Lehtolainen
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
My first encounter with Maria Kallio, the Finnish cop turned lawyer, and a character stuffed full of damaged stereotypes. However, it was enjoyable, although the ending definitely seemed a bit rushed. Unusually I would have liked an extra 50 pages or so, not something I often want in a novel. There were also a hell of a lot of characters flying in and out, some of whom seemed unnecessary, but the plot was interesting enough to keep me going to the end, and I enjoyed the Finnish setting. The main character is a worthwhile addition to the Scandi-noir genre, although the sooner she chucks her boyfriend the better. Would I go back for more? I reckon so.
