Jo Harman – label, festivals and tours

Jo HarmanHi Folks,

Yes, it’s been a while but I just wanted to update you with a few developments in one of my irregular news updates.

Firstly this weekend I signed a contract with V2 Benelux, the label set up originally by Richard Branson as part of Virgin’s international set up and current home of such artists as Laura Marling, Mumford and Sons, Simply Red and many other household names. V2 will formerly release ‘Dirt On My Tongue’ in Netherlands, Belgium and
Luxembourg later this summer and I am delighted to be joining such a prestigious label, with their great resources and reputation, in a way which doesn’t compromise our own destiny, artistically. I expect some kind of formal press release will go out at some point but i wanted you guys to hear about it first.

Truth is, we haven’t been short of offers for the UK and elsewhere but we’ve been happy, for now at least, to continue as an independent artist, which we can do quite happily thanks to the fantastic support of our fan base and the music media. Again, although we’ve been lucky enough to have recent radio play on Radio 2 and the like, I’m very conscious of the support of the independent radio, media and venues/promoters, who have sustained our efforts to date. Thank you one and all, not least, of course, those who come to the gigs and buy the music!.

My next UK gig is on 22nd June at the very lovely Camberley Theatre in Surrey which should be a really good one. I’m hoping Freddy V, in his 18th year as sax player with Average White Band, will be joining me on stage, fresh from the USA, for a tune or two on the night. Be great to see you there

From there it’s into the Summer Festival season in earnest, starting with Blues on the Farm on Sunday 23rd June before a 3 festival run in Netherlands including a big one at Parkpop, with crowds of up to half a million people, where I’m one of only 12 main stage artists alongside the likes of Bob Geldoff, Sinead O Connor, Dexys Midnight Runners and more. Wish me luck with that one 🙂

Anyway, please feel free to keep in touch on www.facebook.com/jo.harman.900 (I still try and get on there most days), twitter @jo_harman or buzz me back here – I try and answer as much as I can and/or as my schedule allows.

And gig dates are constantly being announced and added to www.joharman.com/live-dates so hope to catch up with you soon.

Thanks again for all the support, not least in respect of my debut record ‘Dirt On My Tongue’ which, as you might imagine, means a lot.

Stay happy, stay healthy.

Lots of Love

JO x
