Metal Thrashing Mad – U.D.O. vs. Khadaver vs. The Resistance
U.D.O.

Aiiiieee!!! For sure, it’s the metal dwarf king with two and a half hours of brain shuddering heavy fudging metal.
Now, I’m an old man, so I saw Udo Dirkschneider back in his Accept days, so believe me when I tell you that he can still strip paint from the ceiling when he lets one go.
Although they’re a bunch of ugly buggers, the sound more than makes up for it as Udo and his band clatter through the likes of ‘Dominator’, ‘Thunderball’ and ‘Leatherhead’, as well as some bona fide classics in the shape of ‘I’m A Rebel’ and ‘Balls To The Wall’. No ‘London Leather Boys’, but it’s still essential viewing for Accept and Udo fans.
THE RESISTANCE
Scars

And now it’s time for some Swedish death metal. The Resistance are new kids on the block, but one look at their pedigree and you know what you’re in for.
They’re led by guitarist Jesper Stromblad who spent many years with In Flames, and the rhythm section comprises fellow former In Flamer Glenn Ljungstrom and Chris Barkensjo from Grave. The whole thing is topped off with the vocals of Marco Aro ex singer of The Haunted.
Stromblad has described the band’s music as ‘just awesome death metal’, and that hits the nail firmly on the head as they blast through the likes of ‘To The Death’, ‘Eye For An Eye’ and the awesomely awesome title track.
You’ll be hard pushed to find a better death metal album this year.
KHADAVER
New World Disorder
Khadaver

Oh, I do enjoy an album that arrives with no covering note, press release, or reason for its existence. I remember when I were a lad, and was running the original Zeitgeist zine, which was chock full of metal demo tapes that gave nothing away. So, in a way, it was quite endearing.
So, in the spirit in which it was sent, I refrained from using the internet, and slapped the CD on. And, oh, it’s good. From the pictures in the no expense spared digipack, they looked like a bunch of Polish death metallers. But I was very wrong. Turns out they’re Slovak death metallers. With samplers.
Yes, they’re trying to pull off that old metal / electro hybrid, but unlike most, they’re good at it. It’s violent, harsh and nihilistic. Which will please frontman Nihil Nix.
This is monster, monster good, and if there is any justice in the world, the likes of ’21st Century Antichrist’, ‘Digital Whore’ and ‘Degenerated’ will be rocking your world soon.
Enjoy!
