The former Iron Maiden, Trust, Praying Mantis, Stratus and Desperado drummer passed away at his home last night (12 March) aged 56. Burr had been suffering with Multiple Sclerosis for many years.
He was also the patron of Clive Aid, a charity formed in 2004. Clive Aid has continued to raise awareness and funds for various cancer and multiple sclerosis programs around the world through the staging of rock events
His former colleagues have been quick to pay tribute, with Iron Maiden’s Steve Harris saying: “Clive was a very old friend of all of us. He was a wonderful person and an amazing drummer who made a valuable contribution to Maiden in the early days when we were starting out.” Bruce Dickinson said: “He was a great guy and a man who really lived his life to the full. Even during the darkest days of his MS, Clive never lost his sense of humour or irreverence. This is a terribly sad day and all our thoughts are with Mimi and the family.”
Our condolences to his family and friends.
